A wonderful celebration of 100 years of sharing and developing our faith in the diocese of Lancaster.

On Thursday 18th September at 10am, Fr Peter Clarke celebrated Mass for the whole of our region - Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre at St Joseph's, Ansdell.

Volunteers were sought from both the primary and secondary schools to welcome, read, serve, sign, take the gifts and everyone joined in the singing.

The Mass was the votive Mass of Our Lady of Lourdes, patroness of the diocese. The Pilgrim of Grace statue that had visited every school in the region was blessed, commissioned and welcomed in every school served as a beautiful reminder to:

  • encourage devotion to Our Lady, who always said yes to God
  • deepen our faith
  • strengthen the bonds that unite our diocesan family of schools

The statue was passed over to Helen O'Neill, CEO of the Blessed Edward Bamber Catholic Academy Trust , where she was given pride of place in the new Trust headquarters at English Martyrs in Poulton-le-Fylde. Please spare a moment with her when you visit.

We are very grateful to all the schools who attended and took part in the Mass, it was very uplifting and the parishioners of St Joseph's who made us very welcome.

A truly memorable day of faith and unity as we continue journey together under Mary's loving protection in this centenary and jubilee year.
